Biography

Abba Kabir Yusuf, popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida, is the Governor of Kano State having won the 2023 governorship election under the New Nigeria Peoples Party with 1,040,942 votes. He is a close associate of former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and has been involved in Kano State politics for decades. He previously served as Deputy Governor from 2011 to 2015 under Governor Kwankwaso. His election ended the APC’s control of the Kano governorship and was part of the NNPP’s comprehensive sweep of Kano State in the 2023 elections.
