Biography

Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru is a Nigerian banker and politician serving as Senator for Lagos Central Senatorial District. He won the 2023 senatorial election with 247,019 votes. Previously he served as Group Managing Director and CEO of Polaris Bank Limited from 2020 to 2021. He was first elected Senator in a by-election in 2020 following the death of Senator Bayo Osinowo. Before banking he had a distinguished career in civil service, rising to become Lagos State Commissioner for Finance.
